Maria Sultana

Maria Sultana is currently a PhD student in Information Management at Peking University, who holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) degree and a Master of Arts degree in Information Science and Library Management from University of Dhaka and another Master of Arts degree in Sociology from University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB). She has been working in the field of library and information management for over five years and has engaged herself in social work in Bangladesh. The topic of her doctoral research focuses on how artificial intelligence technology has transformed people’s daily activities and information behavior in Bangladesh, which is a developing nation of South Asia that is experiencing rapid technological developments. She is fascinated with the way in which marginalized and disadvantaged communities of Bangladesh access, use, and interpret AI technologies in light of existing inequalities.
